I’m Kate, an experimental and self taught abstract artist. I love working with vibrant colour, multi media, texture and lots of layers. My style mixes clean, modern compositions with raw, textured materials—often recycled painting palettes—because I love the idea that nothing’s wasted, and natural paint marks, even unintended ones on the palette can be so beautiful!
A lot of my pieces start from play - experimenting with colour, texture, shapes and lines. Sometimes it’s messy. Sometimes it falls into place - sometimes it doesn’t! But I always want the work to feel alive and dynamic—like it’s carrying something just below the surface.
My Throwaway Series is made from leftover palettes that are raw and messy that I’ve turned into gridded compositions—full of unexpected colour and energy. My Botany by Kate pieces are looser, more nature-inspired and in Abstract Apertures, I play with how we see and how we could be seen.
I’m not interested in perfection. I’m more interested in feeling, honesty, and making space for pause.
I live and work in the UK as an Executive Coach, Psychotherapist in training and an artist, painting most days. For me, art is pure enjoyment, my way of making sense of things—messy, emotional, ordinary things. If it speaks to someone else too, then that’s the magic.
